About GEDfest: One Night • One Cause • 12 Cities
GEDfest was born in Calgary shortly after Gord Edgar Downie's passing in 2017. Now in its 9th year, GEDfest has grown from a single hometown event into Canada's largest fundraiser in Gord's memory — and one of the fastest-growing private fundraisers for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
In 2026, GEDfest expands to 12 events, spreading coast to coast across Canada and, for the first time, into the United States. Together, we've donated nearly $732,000 in support of cancer-related charities — and we feel like we're just getting started!
A Nationwide Hip Celebration
On October 17th, join us for a nationwide celebration running simultaneously across North America:
Western Canada: Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Cochrane, Kelowna, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg
Eastern Canada: Toronto, Ottawa, St. John's
United States: Buffalo, NY
Each city will host its very own Tragically Hip tribute to raise money for focused charities, specifically targeting glioblastoma, the cancer that took Gord and so many of our loved ones. Let's show the rest of the country that Ottawa has the best Hip fans in Canada—and LITTLE BONES are our guys to prove it!
Where Your Money Goes
Purchasing your ticket to this incredible event means you're actively supporting the cause. Proceeds from local ticket sales, raffles, silent auctions, and donation boxes go directly to help this year's charity of choice: THE SLAY SOCIETY.
